If you love the outdoors and are proud of your garden, and you also enjoy visiting with friends, then why not combine the two by throwing a garden party? The summer months are usually warm and balmy, it’s the perfect time to show off your prize garden and enjoy some good company! You can start in the afternoon, and if everyone is having a lovely time continue on into the evening! If this sounds delightful, we have some tips to inspire you!

Put Up A Marquee – Even though the point is to enjoy the outdoor ambience, you still need to consider having shade to protect your guests from the summer sun, and if it does happen to rain, some cover over everyone’s heads! The best way to accomplish this is to plan a marquee hire in Perth, they can provide an attractive open canvas shelter for any sized garden.

Sparkling Party Glassware – Place a glass stand near the marquee to hold your desserts on glass plates to give off a cheerful sparkle. Use glass tableware, and fill large glass pitchers with iced fruit drinks to add colour.

Party Lights And Lanterns – if you start in the late afternoon, you can have the lights come on early to ease into evening. Go for strings of clear Christmas lights to provide a pleasant glow under the marquis, and hang festive Japanese style lanterns in the trees, they can be lit with battery power, so no need for cumbersome cords. LED strip lights add a rainbow of colours and fun. Dot the paths with floor lanterns to guide your guests as they take a stroll!

Scrumptious Party Cuisine – Warm summer days call for cool treats like cucumber and cheese finger sandwiches, potato salad, Caesar salad, and delicious sliced fruits, cold cuts and cheeses on a charcuterie tray! Dessert can also be refreshingly cool, key lime pie and blueberry cheesecake! If you really want to keep things cool serve with a scoop of frosty fruit sherbet!

Music In The Garden – Make sure to play some music, it’s a great way to create the right atmosphere. Keep the volume at a level where it’s present in the background, but not overwhelming conversations. it’s fun to make two playlists as for the party, one to play during the day, and one for the evening. You know what music you and your guests love best, but aim for uplifting, festive tunes that will inspire joy and camaraderie.

Protect Your Guests From Pests – Gardens have bugs, it’s simply nature’s way. Light some mossie repelling citronella candles around the area to dissuade unwanted guests, they have a pleasant floral scent that will mesh well with your garden’s natural fragrance, and provide a charming flickering light to the proceedings. It’s also a great idea to pass out sample size tubes of bug repellent cream to each guest to apply if they wish. Finally, setting up a few rotating standing fans will provide a cooling breeze as well as keep the flying critters at bay!

We hope we have inspired you to throw a garden party, it will be a gathering to remember!
